International Students
CRMS is proud of its international student diversity and welcomes all international students to apply for admission. With approximately 15% of the student body each year coming from around the world, CRMS embraces a global community. Learn more about the application process for international students below.
The International Student Program is designed to support international students as they transition to school and life in the US.
All new international students begin the school year with the other new domestic students embarking on a Wilderness Orientation backpacking trip. New international students and their families are encouraged to come to Carbondale a few days before Orientation to acclimate to the mountain altitude and get to know the area. We also host the new international students and their families for a special Welcome Dinner at the head of school's home so that they can meet their advisors and other new international students in a more intimate setting before the full orientation program begins.
Once the students settle into their daily life at school and begin their coursework, they continue to find support from the International Student Program. The program offers comrade and support from the Director of the International Program in making sure international students transition smoothly to life at CRMS. Additionally, the program helps with TOEFL test coordination and transportation to test locations, special international student outings and weekend programming, assistance with travel plans, airport transfers to local area airports on major school holidays, host family stays for school breaks if necessary, and on-campus cultural events.
In addition to the International Student Program, the school offers the International Support Program for international students who need additional ESOL instruction. Students who enroll in this program will have three small group tutorial classes on their schedule each week with the program director to encourage English language acquisition and literacy. This program comes with an added fee of $3,000.Â
