SMART WAYS TO GIVE

Your generosity strengthens CRMS's academic, active, outdoor, and arts programs and its extraordinary faculty and staff.

Below are smart ways to give to CRMS that may provide tax benefits or savings for you (contacting your qualified tax or financial advisor first). Please contact Director of Development Mark Bell or Director of Annual Giving Tim O'Keefe with questions.

DONOR ADVISED FUNDS

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a simple, flexible, and tax-advantageous way to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction, and then recommend grants from the fund over time. You can make a grant today to CRMS’s Federal Tax #84-0425174.

Please request for your name and address to be included. Please contact CRMS to inform us of your gift so that we can thank you for your generosity. Recommend a grant to CRMS now via:

We recommended that you consult with your tax advisor to discuss the latest IRS rules and regulations.

STOCKS

Giving appreciated stock can help avoid paying capital gains taxes and potentially receive a tax deduction for the full value of your gift.

We gladly accept stock transfers via Charles Schwab (and via Donate Stock). For Charles Schwab, your broker will require the following information:

  • DTC: #0164

  • CRMS Charles Schwab Account Number: 1604-6942

  • Please include the donor's name for reference.

IMPORTANT: Please contact us to let us know the name of the stock and the number of shares being transferred. Privacy laws prohibit our broker from sharing your contact information, so contacting us ensures the successful completion of your gift!

We recommended that you consult with your tax advisor to discuss the latest IRS rules and regulations.

IRA

If you are 70 ½ or older, you can save on taxes by withdrawing a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA and donating it directly to CRMS.

To count towards your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), the IRS requires you to transfer funds by the end of the tax year (December 31st).

We recommended that you consult with your tax advisor to discuss the latest IRS rules and regulations.

LEGACY GIFTS

You can include CRMS in your estate plans when you name CRMS as a beneficiary of a will, trust, mutual fund, retirement plan, or life insurance policy. These legacy gifts allow you to join the Holden Circle and make a lasting impact on CRMS.

Please visit our Holden's Circle webpage for more details and resources.

CORPORATE MATCHING GIFTS

Corporate matching gifts are a type of philanthropy in which companies financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations. Use Amply to see if your company will match your gift to CRMS to double or triple your impact.

CRYPTOCURRENCY

Donate Bitcoin, Ethereum, and more to CRMS via Crypto for Charity to save on taxes and make a big impact. Choose Colorado Rocky Mountain School as the nonprofit, which coin you’d like to use, and the amount, and CRMS will receive a check for the equivalent dollar value. Please “let this charity know who you are” so we can thank you and acknowledge your generosity.

PERSONAL PROPERTY & ASSETS

A gift of real estate, artwork, vehicles, or other appreciated property could result in significant capital gains tax savings to the donor. Please contact Mark Bell, Development Director, at (970) 963-7220 to discuss your potential donation.

BY WIRE TRANSFER

Wire transfers can be made directly from your bank account to CRMS’s account. Please contact Tim O'Keefe, Director of Annual Giving for wiring instructions.
