Colorado Rocky Mountain School is seeking an experienced Upper School History Teacher to join our team of dedicated faculty members starting in the fall of 2025. This teacher will implement a global history curriculum. History teachers at CRMS value a progressive, interdisciplinary pedagogy designed to meet individual student’s needs and help them attain an academically vibrant and skilled level of scholarship. Faculty also participate in our active program and contribute to our residential and advisory programs.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Teach three to four academic courses
- Collaborate with English and other relevant academic disciplines
- Support boarding students as a dorm parent in the evening and weekend residential program
- Mentor a group of students as an advisor
- Instruct active program curriculum (including mountain sports, theater arts, outdoor trips, or service work)
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Foster inclusion and social justice, ensuring all students’ sense of belonging
- Take on other duties as needed
- Execute all duties in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; advanced degree and/or teaching credential preferred
- Humanities teaching experience (1-year minimum)
- World history and global studies experience preferred
- Experience teaching fundamental skill sets, such as reading comprehension and re-call, writing strategies and techniques, and organization skills
- Demonstrated experience in the use of technology, and in integrating technological applications in the classroom
- Organization/time-management skills
- Cultural competencies required to promote inclusion, equity, and belonging within a diverse cultural and social framework
- Ability to effectively engage with students as a dorm parent and advisor

Colorado Rocky Mountain School is seeking a theater educator to direct our theater program, beginning in the winter of 2025. The CRMS arts department emphasizes a commitment to the production and appreciation of art, the awareness of the role of art in society, and the value creative exploration can have on lifelong learning. Drama productions are an essential element of our arts at CRMS and the school is dedicated to advancing our performing arts program.
Our goal is to produce a small, creative, and engaging performance integrating acting and, potentially, musical elements. The theater director would decide on a show, teach students, and manage the various aspects of rehearsals and performances. Rehearsals run 3:15-5:00 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Colorado Rocky Mountain School, an independent day and boarding high school, has an organic garden program with vegetable gardens, a young orchard, a small nursery, and a large-scale composting system. CRMS is located on a 350-acre ranch in Carbondale in western Colorado between Glenwood Springs and Aspen at an elevation of 6200 feet.
Responsibilities: The Garden Assistant participates in all non-administrative activities of the garden as needed. This includes soil preparation, planting, mulching, protecting crops with covers, watering, weeding, fertilizing, planning, harvesting, cleaning produce, preparing produce for storage, preserving produce, arranging flowers, maintaining tools, minor repairs on buildings and equipment and cleaning of the buildings and work areas. The Assistant plays a large role in the yearly springtime plant sale, that will impart a different skill set; knowledge of perennials and annuals, marketing, sales, and customer relations. There is also the opportunity for the Assistant to gain skills pertaining to operating a skid-steer, tractor and various construction and landscaping projects. The Assistant will help with the compost program multiple times per week. The Assistant works with the Garden Manager to plan, lead and/or supervise student work crews in the Spring. If the Assistant has sole responsibility for supervising a work crew, the Assistant will take attendance, write reports and submit them by the appropriate deadline. At times, the Assistant may be called upon to work in/on the campus landscape outside the garden. The assistant will take an active role in supervising and training Garden Interns, as well as creating a schedule and plan for local farm tours throughout the region.
Time Commitment: The Assistantship runs for approximately 30 weeks; from April 1st through November 1, 2025. The exact time frame is flexible and can be adjusted for the right candidate. The assistant will be required to work some weekends (on a rotating schedule with interns) Due to the nature of agricultural work, typical holidays (such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day) will be regularly scheduled workdays. Expect a heavy workload (35-40 hours/week) most weeks.
Compensation: $400/week paid every two weeks plus housing, meals and vegetables
Housing: You will live in a yurt on campus with a composting toilet, a water tank, and a full kitchen. This housing is somewhat primitive. The yurt, while it does have propane heat, can be on the cool to cold side during spring and during the summer months certain times of day in the yurt can be very hot. The assistant has access to shower facilities in campus facilities, which are
a short walk from the yurt. Water hauling may be necessary some weeks of the year. The yurt is simply furnished and is a beautiful space.
Meals: Three meals daily provided when the school kitchen is open. The kitchen will be open for most of the term of the assistantship apart from a few intermittent weeks when the kitchen is closed. The assistant will also have access to produce from the school garden, some dry goods from the kitchen and to a small plot to plant his/her own garden, if desired.
Qualifications:
- The Garden Assistant should have practical and relevant work experience and a basic knowledge of organic production and gardening and a genuine curiosity about learning more, an interest in the educational side of agriculture
- The ability to thrive under challenging and conditions with a heavy workload
- The ability to work alone and take on a leadership role with gusto
- An ability to be flexible and respond to changes and challenges that arise because of the school calendar, the weather and other logistics
- Must be 21 years of age
- Experience working with teenagers is a plus
- A strong interest in organic and sustainable agriculture and our food system
- Strong organization skills and tidiness
- A well-developed and energetic work ethic

This includes soil preparation, planting, watering, weeding, fertilizing, planning, harvesting, cleaning produce, preparing produce for storage, maintaining tools, minor repairs on buildings and equipment and cleaning of the buildings and work areas. There also exist opportunities to tour other farms, operate machinery, participate in construction projects, and dabble in flower arranging. At times, the Intern may be called upon to work in/on the campus landscape. In addition, interns may be given responsibility over a specific project or ongoing task.
Housing: On campus (most likely a dorm room).
Stipend: $200/week paid every two weeks
Meals: Three meals daily provided when school kitchen is open. The kitchen will be open for most of the term of the internship apart from a few intermittent weeks. The interns will also have access to produce from the school garden and dry goods from the kitchen.
Time commitment: Duration and dates are flexible. 8-10 weeks at 35-40 hours a week from Early June until Mid August depending on the CRMS school calendar and the Intern’s availability. The interns will be required to work some weekends (on a rotating schedule with other interns and assistant- expect 1-2 weekends per month-mostly watering and light work). Due to the nature of agricultural work, typical holidays (such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day) will be regularly scheduled work days. Expect a heavy work load (35-40 hours/week) most weeks.

The Colorado Rocky Mountain School is seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook to join our team. As a Cook at our boarding school, you will play a vital role in providing nutritious and delicious meals to our students. The ideal candidate will be able to work efficiently with limited supervision and possess excellent culinary skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook meals for students, faculty, and staff in accordance with the school's dietary guidelines and preferences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area, including storage areas and equipment.
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards at all times.
- Assist with meal service and ensure that students are served promptly and courteously.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service.
- Communicate effectively with school administration, staff, and students.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a cook or chef, preferably in a school, institutional, or restaurant setting is helpful.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of various cooking techniques.
- Experience in catering and banquets is a plus.
- Spanish language proficiency highly recommended.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Semi-flexible schedule to work Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays. Working hours are from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Safety Hazards Of The Job: Stand for extended periods of time, frequently walk or crouch for extended periods of time on narrow and slippery surfaces. Closed-toe shoes are required. Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, sufficient manual dexterity and eye hand coordination to use a variety of tools and equipment; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
