Affording CRMS
CRMS is committed to admitting talented, motivated, and adventurous students, regardless of family resources. Independent school education can require a significant financial investment, but at CRMS, we do our best to make the school accessible through a generous tuition assistance program. Each year we award nearly $3 million in need-based aid to 43 percent of the student body. CRMS awards need-based tuition assistance, which are grants, not loans that need to be repaid. We are committed to working with families who believe a CRMS education is right for their child.
2024-2025 Tuition
Boarding: $74,500
Day: $46,500
The tuition assistance process runs concurrently to the admission process, with slightly different deadlines. The priority deadline for completing the tuition assistance application including relevant supplemental documents is February 15th. (Applications received after this date will be reviewed on a rolling basis).
CRMS uses Clarity Financial Aid (www.clarityschools.com) to process tuition assistance applications. Based on the financial information families provide in the application, Clarity Financial Aid provides an estimated amount a family can contribute to educational expenses. This estimate is a starting point to help the Tuition Assistance Committee make fair and objective tuition assistance decisions.
To get started, please click on the button below and create an account. The application typically takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Clarity Application is also mobile-friendly so you can complete it from anywhere. You are also able to save your progress and return at any time. At the end of the application, there is a $60 fee to submit, and you can share your application with additional schools that accept the Clarity Application for no additional charge. Simply use the dropdown menu in the application to select those schools.
Please remember to return to your dashboard after you complete and submit your Clarity Application, as we also require you to upload additional tax documentation including tax returns, W-2s, etc.

CRMS has a long history of education about and involvement in the Native American culture. Generous donations from alumni and parents have funded endowments that support two Native American scholarships. To be considered for a Native American Scholarship, please complete the regular tuition assistance process (outlined above). Applicants must also complete the Native American Scholarship Application Form.
How is tuition assistance determined?
To determine need, CRMS uses the services of the Clarity Financial Aid. This service utilizes information provided by the family on a Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) form, which asks for income, expenses, assets, and liability information. Families send the original completed PFS form to the School and Student Service online through their website. SSS computes this information and determines an estimated need. The Report of Family Contribution is sent from Princeton to CRMS, and the CRMS Tuition Assistance Committee uses this estimated need as a guideline in making awards, in conjunction with an assessment of the supplementary materials submitted with the application.
How much tuition assistance can I expect to receive?
Each case is considered individually, but every family should expect to contribute something toward their child’s education – typically a minimum of $10,000-12,000. The total amount received will be based on demonstrated financial need, academic record, extracurricular activities, and character.
What if there is a situation involving divorced or separated parents?
CRMS expects both the custodial and non-custodial parents to participate in the support of their child. It is up to all parties involved to communicate and participate in good faith in the financial responsibilities. CRMS does not interpret divorce or legal separation decrees.
What if I do not have my tax return completed by the deadline?
A copy of the most recent year tax return is required in order to cross-reference the information provided on the Parents' Financial Statement. In some instances, at the sole discretion of the Tuition Assistance Committee, a preliminary award can be made and then finalized upon receipt of your most recent tax return. Priority and funding will be allocated first to families who submitted complete applications.
What about award renewals? Can I expect the same award each year?
Need-based tuition assistance is not automatically renewable. Every tuition assistance award is made for one year only and will be reviewed annually. Each year and for each child, parents must submit the necessary forms to Clarity Financial Aid. Unless new information comes to light, and as long as financial circumstances remain the same, the Tuition Assistance Committee’s goal is to maintain funding at proportionate levels over the years that the student is enrolled. Current CRMS families who are not receiving tuition assistance and who have experienced unexpected financial difficulties may apply for aid for the following school year.
CRMS reserves the right to amend awards if new information comes to light after enrollment.
Does the school offer Merit Scholarships?
CRMS does not have a formal merit scholarship program.
